MimyX® Cream Q. What is Atopic Dermatitis (AD)?A. AD is a chronic noncontagious skin disease that is characterized by abnormally dry skin and increased itching. Intense itching, is the key symptom, and leads to scratching. Inflammation results in redness, swelling, cracking, and oozing of clear fluid. In the instance of secondary bacterial infection there will be crusting and yellow scale.1 Q. What is MimyX® Cream?A. MimyX® Cream is a fragrance free, preservative free, water-based emulsion formulated for the management and relief of the burning and itching experienced with various types of dermatoses, including atopic dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis and radiation dermatitis. MimyX® Cream helps to relieve the dry, waxy skin by maintaining a moist wound & skin environment, which is beneficial to the healing process.2 Q.How should I use MimyX® Cream?A. Apply MimyX® Cream to the affected skin areas 3 times per day (or as needed), and massage gently into the skin. If the skin is broken, cover MimyX® Cream with a dressing of choice.2 Q. Is MimyX® Cream safe?A. Yes, MimyX® Cream is safe. MimyX® Cream is not a steroid, nor is it an immunomodulator. Therefore, it has none of the recommended restrictions associated with the use of those products. MimyX® Cream has no age or duration of use restrictions and is safe enough to have been approved for use on the face. MimyX® Cream does not contain emulsifiers, offering additional benefits for the atopic patient.2 Q. What is the application order when using MimyX® Cream and topical immunomodulators (TIM) or a steroid?A. It is recommend that you apply the prescribed steroid or TIM first, followed by MimyX® Cream.2 Q. Why does MimyX® Cream have a sun exposure warning?A. The warning is based on the products that preceded MimyX® Cream. MimyX® Cream is indicated for 3 dermatological disease states: atopic dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, and radiation dermatitis. Based on the fact that it is indicated for radiation dermatitis, it is necessary to include under precautions and observations that MimyX® Cream does not contain sunscreen and should not be used prior to extended exposure to the sun. MimyX® Cream does not cause photosensitivity; however, it must be made clear that it does not protect against sun exposure or radiation therapy.2 Q. Does MimyX® Cream burn or sting when applied?A. Every patient is different, and because the skin of atopic dermatitis patients is already compromised, some patients may report transient stinging when anything touches their skin. In a clinical trial of over 2,400 patients, burning was reported as a side effect in less than 1% of patients. In the same study, 93% of patients assessed overall tolerance as "good" to "very good" with daily use. Compliance is always the goal for every therapy. MimyX® Cream improves the quality of life for most patients; especially sleep patterns for all patients.3 References
